Bumper looks to be correct from picture, looks to have the holes for the MG tripod mounts. When I mentioned the canvas top in my earlier post, I was wrong. This top will not help the you sell the scout. It is not correct at all for a scout car. Sides and rear armor are not correct as you mentioned. Looking at the side metal I am guessing there are not recessed wells on the inside bed. Someone may have just put a flat bed on it to give rides. Still has potential, but value is dropping with what is not right. Sorry to say that but it is still a good one to rebuild. Remove the canvas and wrong bows, replace the bed with correct metal and you have an early scout.

My honest opinion about a price would be 12K to 15K. You basically have a nice running cab & chassis, everything from the bulkhead, behind the seats back, is only worth the bolts that are holding it together, only part of the bumper can be used. I am guessing there is no wheel well armor also, going by the side bolts showing. Finding the correct complete rear bed, armor and skate rail would run about the same amount. This is probably not what you want to hear but you were seeking a value and I believe that is about the range for what you have. I have 3 like yours from the cab & chassis type to an almost complete one with armor & skate rail. I just sold a solid rust free non runner (cab & chassis) for 5k. Most guys are looking for a complete & correct scout to restore, with several being restored the parts supply is drying up if not gone. First thing farmers and stockman took off and got rid of was the skate rail and bed.

thanks for the info. maybe im looking at the wrong, i have done some searching and starting to get a feel for prices. if you got 5 for the frame, ( mine is rust free also) another gentleman hasn't seen a set of fenders for sale in 5 years, a complete dash with NOS gauges is a unicorn ( to quote another post on another site) not to mention a complete running drive train. im thinking if i cut it up and part it out i could do much better then 12k.

No doubt parting one out will get more, if you have the time to wait on the parts to sell. Shipping is a big problem with heavy parts. Certain parts are easy to sell because many are wanting them, other parts will sit around in your way, again I know all too well about the parts sitting around. Hate to see one in decent shape go away for parts, but it is your decision. Try to keep it together if you can, very few of the early ones are around.

No idea if these are correct or if they have any value but there are a lot of radios and what looks like a radio base that goes with it. I posted more pics here

Yesterday, Mike and I did a FaceTime reviewing this SC. The dash data tag reads Mfg # 227602 and ORD # 619. The tag is brass and has the ordinance department cartouche. The number 227602 is also stamped into the left frame rail, in the front wheel well area. This indicates, to me, that it is a numbers correct SC, and from the data base is a Lot 2, likely built in 1941. The brass tags and aluminum floor plates usually indicate a pre-war build. During the war the tags were zinc and the floors were steel. The Hercules started right up on it's own, no spray helper. I hope this helps those interested, and I wish it was possible for me to own it. :!:

I think your best bet for getting the price you want is to sell it on the 'Bring A Trailer' auction site. There are a lot of inexperienced buyers with lots of cash to spend on stuff they know nothing about from what I can see, at least as far as the military stuff that comes up for sale there goes.

Is the m3a1 still for sale? Did you decide on a price? Where is it located?
