Scout car trolly question

Post by Hired Goon » Thu Oct 28, 2021 6:30 am

I have a spare trolley for a WW2 ring mount. It has the canted rollers. Will it work on a scout car rail or do I need to find one with straight rollers? If so, anyone want to trade trolleys?

It will work but it wont be level on the sloped parts of the rail. The scout car trolley has another pivot point to correct that. The scout car trolleys are much more scarce.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder why the rollers are canted on the ring mount trolley and straight on the scout car trolley, maybe the corners on the skate rail are not as tight as the diameter of the ring?

Well the ring is a constant curve, so rollers set up for that curve should work pretty well. The scout car skate rail is mostly straight. It seems to be a compromise. As Jesse noted, the S/C trolly with the canting feature is very pricey and hard to find. Asking prices these days seems to be 3500 to 5000 dollars a piece.

And here I thought they were in the 1500 to 2500$ range!
I had a repro scout car trolley for sale at Aberdeen for 1750 and NOBODY bothered to bite on it.

Dawgman, where did you get the repro trolley from?

The M49 trolley does not roll on scout car skate rail, it rolls in the corner, but not on the straight sections. I am fortunate to have one correct M35 trolley. Looking forward to taking my scout car to the WW2 weekend event in Reading Pa next week.
