Im starting an informal search for a T17 Deerhound. I guess only around 250 were made. Most apparently stayed stateside (good), until they we given to other countries (bad).
As a minimum I think a hull, the three axles and the unique transfer case. Who knows?
Anyone ever run into one of these things?

I think there is one survivor in a museum in the UK. I'd say odds of another surviving are extremely remote.

Yeah, that is what I figure too, but thought I'd search around a bit. Found a couple in South America, but they are in museums too. Somewhere there must be some residue laying around...
I like the hard to find stuff, LOL.

Which museums in South America? That's amazing. Is the Boarhound the 8x8 that might be the one I was thinking of in the UK? Maybe you can do some wheeling and dealing you never know. I keep hoping an M3 scout car will show up someday, somewhere.

I hear ya. One Deerhound in San Paulo and one in Rio?? Trying to re-find the site that listed them. Boarhound is the 8X8. Still there were 250 Deerhounds made. no one wanted them, so they were de-turretted and sent to stateside MP units.
I like hard to find stuff! The hunt is the fun for me. I was told the Scout Car would be a real challenge, turns out not really. A phone call here an IM there a bid on eBay and you get anything you need, including air funnels...

Re: Looking for leads on T17 Deerhound
Well, I could sure use a jxd oil pan in good shape if you don’t have trouble locating White Scout Car parts. If you want a challenge try buying an INCOMPLETE white scout car project missing mundane things like an oil pan or master cylinder pushrod, or better yet a front wheel drum retracting spring for the restoration. I fabricated the pushrod and Clevis yoke for the master cylinder, searched all over creation for the front brake retracting spring til I found a guy in Holland with a few and had them shipped across the Atlantic for 8$ a spring and 55$ for shipping, and still haven’t found the oil pan. Rule of thumb buy what you see even if you don’t immediately need it. Oh yeah, I traded an MB voltage regulator for a scout car regulator from a guy in Brazil shipping through all the Covid restrictions. Not to mention the scout car trolley I picked up driving at night in a torrential rainstorm 150 miles round trip before another guy could buy it from underneath me, again because they cannot be found. Try locating a roller, uncut windshield armor, nos carburetors, skate rails, original armor pieces, original front and rear seat pans, all scarce to nonexistent. I’ve had to buy parts from the US, Europe, Australia, And New Zealand, as Nd I’ve made a lot of friends along the way. Nothing boring or not a challenge in my experience with my scout car project, it’s all been a challenge. Fun for sure, but definitely a challenge. That’s just my opinion, ok I’m off my soap box now.mdainsd wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 3:28 pmI hear ya. One Deerhound in San Paulo and one in Rio?? Trying to re-find the site that listed them.
