Members beware of SCAMMERS!

Post by Bill H. » Tue Feb 15, 2022 5:50 pm

We are seeing an increase in scammers! More often the "seller" has very few posts. Since they have few posts they are unable to use the PM feature on the site and instead use "burner" emails (Yahoo, gmail, hotmail and others) This in not to say any one of those listed emails is bad but scammers try to stay as anonymous as possible.

Some tips to help you from being bilked out of your hard earned money are:

Insist on using a payment system where you will have some recourse in the event something goes south.

Get a phone number and actually talk to the seller. If he balks, walk away.

Insist on detailed photos with a form of date verification (newspaper, computer screen showing date, etc) if he balks, walk away.

Do not deal with new members with zero track record.

If you can, only deal with established members.

If the price is too good to be true, it isn't true.

Do not put your email address in any of your posts.

Do not put your phone number in any of your posts.

Please feel free to add other ideas. This is a great hobby and far to small and tight to have this sort of thing going on.

In addtion: if you feel as though a member isn't legit, PLEASE CONTACT ME EITHER VIA PM OR EMAIL! bill@g503.com

Question???
Is there a place where one can post a scam so others can be aware if the scammer try’s to contact a member that listed for sale or wanted ???

Thank you.

Yes, it's right at the top of the WTS and WTB sections.

Be aware on Facebook Marketplace there is a scammer

James Harrison

His profile looks legitimate but his PayPal has been flagged. He wants payment sent via Zelle or Venmo which doesn’t provide buyers protection.

I would warn everybody for a notorious scammer. (I've posted this message elsewhere on the forum, but I think this post is more relevant)

Do not buy anything from Grzegorz Wolsztyniak, MVP (Military Vehicles Poland) or Fourtankmen. He doesn't send the parts you pay for. I've bought several parts from him which actually got here and he seemed a nice guy. I even could pay when the parts were delivered. But when I ordered a BMP fuelpump of him for 1700 euros, he wanted the payment before the shipment. I trusted him and did so, he never send me the item. Gave the man several opportunities to solve this matter. But he didn't reply my messages and phonecalls.

So be warned and don't make the same fault like me. Use Google and search for 'MVP Grzegorz Wolsztyniak' and 'Fourtankmen' and you will find many people being scammed by Grzegorz. Some cases go back to 2010. Hereby some examples;

2010; Warning on Russian military trucks
https://www.russianmilitarytrucks.com/f ... =22&t=3114

2012 Warning on historic military vehicle forum not to do business with Grzegorz Wolsztyniak.
https://hmvf.co.uk/topic/23624-do-not-d ... -grzegorz/

2021; Warning on Steelsoldiers forum;
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/w ... ed.203120/

2023; Warning on G503 forum
viewtopic.php?f=24&p=1954207

Really hope that he will scam the wrong person who will put this to an end.

Said from Utah.

As soon as I asked for an address to send funds to, never another word from them.

Mark, do they go by another user name here? I don't find that name. Email address? Thanks

Had a direct email from hezeklahw333@gmail,com
bypassed my post looking for a T84 part. Was quick to offer price
stopped communicating when I asked for photos and where the part was shipping from
couldn't find an user with that name here

They are lurking here, they yse the email feature and make contact with you. Dont buy from anybody unless they are visible on here with a history behind them

Beware, everybody says to use paypal for merchandise, well scammers and
people with buyers remorse, can make false claims to paypal within 3 months i believe, paypal will take your money back till resolved.
