All,

I'm trying to find two new or good condition Autolite generator field coil screws.

Thanks,
Jeff

Good luck with your search. I believe your looking for Screw FM3 55486 s7 Wo 1596. 3/8-16 x0.90" I searched for a long time. Had to settle for 3/8-16 x 1.00" had to get the heads turned down to fit flush with the casing ,and then had the length reduced. Only other screws I could find with the correct thread and length ,were countersunk cross heads  But of course to be correct the screws need to be slotted. Maybe someone will see this post and say they have the correct screws available for you. But this is an alternative mate :)
regards Nick

I have used a Ford Model A generator filed coil screw with good results.

These are shorter than the Auto-lite screws. I always use a bolt to secure the coil tight to the housing. I then remove the bolt and install the model A screw. There is enough threads going into the coil blocks as I have really torqued them down hard without stripping them out.

I used to buy the screws from these guys, but I can't find them now. But, the ones they carried were very nice:

The following link shows a black screw:

The following link shows a white metal color screw:

Hope this helps,

Jeff,

One thing I forgot to mention is the heads of the bolts/screws I listed are the same as the factory auto-lite bolts/screws. The treads are just not as long.
