GPW Connecting Rod
I need one GPW connecting rod, #4. I will take a #2 if I must. DPCD, I don’t really want one of your NOS rods unless I absolutely can’t find a re-sizeable one. Thanks

Re: GPW Connecting Rod
Right; these are for collecting purposes since they are in cosmoline dipped boxes with the Ford information printed on the label. I have no used F ones.

Re: GPW Connecting Rod
Is this for a collection?
I have four Ford GPW F marked connecting rods where babbitt is bonded directly to rod, removed from my running 1942 GPW engine.

Re: GPW Connecting Rod
It’s for an engine rebuild. I bought a GPW engine that had all the machine work done, crankshaft and rods all nicely wrapped in plastic. When I unwrapped the rods, yes, they had been re-sized, but one of them is a Willys rod.

Re: GPW Connecting Rod
Waooh, nice.
Do you have a mean to accurately measure the internal diameter for the bearing.
This is to confirm the one I have found in the bearing catalog.
I would like to modify my F marked rods so that they would accept standard bearings instead of the bonded babbitt. (see photos here above).
Thanks.

Re: GPW Connecting Rod
Thanks Robert, but as you know, they don’t do me any good. I need a #2 or #4.
Yves, I don’t know whether that kind of info appears anywhere in the TM’s, but the Service Manual For Universal Jeep Vehicles (CJ, but it’s the same) shows the big-end bore to be 2.0432” to 2.0440”.
I’m curious as to how a set of GPW rods wound up with poured babbit bearings.

I’m going soon to melt the babbitt and see how it goes.
I will post pictures.

Re: GPW Connecting Rod
60 bucks apiece, IF he’ll sell one seperate? I’ll put 4 Willys rods in the motor first. That “F” don’t mean that much to me.
