ISO MB cylinder head

Post by D_Conrad » Fri May 14, 2021 11:30 am

I am in need of a cylinder head for my Feb 43 MB. This should read Willys but not Jeep. I can purchase or trade for a late war MB cylinder head I have. Thank you!

I’ll have to look through my stack...but out of curiosity, what is the DoD of your Feb 43 MB? I ask because you may need a Jan 43 cast head...depending on your DoD. Is the engine the original factory one for your vehicle?

My DOD is Feb 8 43. And yes my whole drivetrain is original to the jeep.

is the Jan 43 any different than a mid 43?

Yes....the casting date! I assume you want a factory appropriate head? If so, then the casting date must fall within a certain range.

Lol sorry, stupid question. Yes I would like to make it factory appropriate, however in also doing the resturation as an off the field, not off the factory line

So factory “appearance” then for the head...not going so far as the correct casting date? Maybe I’m the only one who cares about this sort of thing anymore.

I’ll look through my stack. No promises, but I’ll look.

If you have the correct casting date that would be ideal, if not I'd settle for any correct appearance.

Of the spare MB heads I have (most turned out to be GPW) that are not already date matched up with one of my spare blocks, I have the following:

9/5 639660 W2 (No WILLYS or JEEP)
3/31 639660c W3 (No WILLYS or JEEP)
8/30 639660c W2 (No WILLYS or JEEP)
7/12 639660c W4 (With WILLYS and JEEP)
9/12 639660c W2 (With WILLYS and JEEP)
11/9 639660c W1 (With WILLYS and JEEP)

Unfortunately, non with just WILLYS embossed on them which is what you need for your Feb 1943 MB. I apologize that I can’t help, but I wanted you to know that I checked as promised.
