In about 1987 I bought a '45 GPW for parts for my script GPW. It turned out to be too good to part out so I refurbished it, drove it for while, and sold it about 20 years ago. It did come with an extra Ford motor that was on the guys junk pile. I kept the motor for my script GPW-37718, which, now that I'm retired, I hope to start on (in a year or two) after I catch up on other things. In looking for parts for the vehicle I'm working now on I found myself nearly trapped in my "parts pile"; actually two jeeps stacked on top of each other, facing that motor in the back seat area. Since I was nearly stuck there and my wife luckily happened to come out to see me about something I convinced her to hand me a wire brush. I already had a flashlight, so I did a little brushing and this is what I found! GPA-345!

i'm not in charge of this list, but do you "Have" GPW #215, or are you "Seeking" GPW #215 motor there....proper category would clarify it, plenty of space to elaborate in posts. :)

MB535420 will trade for GPW engine near GPW 14518 or 98532.

Machine work completed by Machinist in Las Cruces NM who has done dozens of L134s (phone number on receipt to call) Was missing caps, but found MB caps that are a close match. They will need to be line honed, perhaps line bored. I need to post a better image of the caps. Has crank, cam, block, head, new valve guides, flywheel, been magnifluxed, bored and honed, crank polished, installed and cut hardened seats, etc. See receipt. Red in images is not rust, but remants of Red Paint.

pm or emial me.

Thanks

That looks like a later style stepped boss with the VEP GPW SN on it. I also have one of those, later stepped boss with GPW 5765 stamped. I came with horrible frame and Title for GPW 5765 from an old New Mexico farm. Tom W. could not decipher why you would have a stepped boss with an early SN on it. Your's is an engine made after the boss type (stepped vs flat) was changed as I understand in late 1942. but stamped to match an early SN Ford.

Mysteery for us both.

You may have missed something very basic, or I'm misunderstanding something about GPA's, but my motor is from a GPA (Amphibious jeep), not GPW. They didn't start making GPA's until later in GPW production.

Sorry, I mis-read that. I saw all the GPW comments in the first part of the post and glossed over the A. My sincere apologies.
