]Lost gauges in a fire. Looking for Stewart Warner fuel, oil, amp and speedometer gauges for a may of 43 gpw.

I was told no hope. Everything in speedo was melted. Funny thing is my jeep is a 43 gpw and the majority of the gauges were mb gauges

Could you post photos of the « melted » gauges?
To be sure that a gauge is definitely out of service, it needs to be opened and inspected.
In the past, I have repaired a CJ-2a speedometer burnt in a garage fire in Canada. Only the face plate was destroyed.

It needed a face plate restoration and a main shaft lubrication. Now that speedo is fully operational.
But of course, if you want a GPW gauge set you cannot make it from a burnt MB set .

That post had an interesting trick for lowering file sizes, but it might be better to register for a free photo sharing website like Surfacezero.com and upload big image files there, then it will allow you to get an image link you can paste into a forum post, share it, other things. Benefit to that is the site is a backup place for your full-sized photos. Some photo sharing sites are better for that purpose than Surfacezero.

There is a forum here on the Gee about using Surfacezero.

Yes you are right the best option is to upload photos with the bigger resolution here in the G, where we can see the details, for example hood numbers in original bad quality ww2 photos. The problem of using external serves to upload the photos is that with the past of the years these serves dissapear and we lost all the photos as it happened here a few times. So when uploading important photos perhaps is better to lost quality and preserve them.

If you are on a desktop, just resize them in the paint app, takes 20 sec. Remember the old days when your floppy disc camera only took 30K pics, now they are all 5M

One of the cloud apps focused on backing up files is a good place to save files. I think using an external hard drive for backups is good too, stored outside the home if you are worried about a fire. Like in a bank safe deposit box. Maybe have two and then swap them every month or two, with the one at home receiving all the new files of course.

Yes you are right.
Most probably the zamak frames have melted during the fire.
The speedometer odometer and trip meter rolls (in zamak) have melted as well.
Too bad.
