12 volt stop/tail light for MB

Post by OldJeepBob » Tue Jun 11, 2019 3:28 pm

I need the driver's side stop/tail light bulb, 12 volt, war years/NOS/repo, MB or GPW.
Thanks!

Paul FitzGerald right here on the gee converts the original 6-volt lamps to LEDs which once you install it, you will know how important it is to have that brighter, crisper tail/stop can be. He does six or twelve volt versions of all three of the G529s lamps.

When I did my jeep I just uncrimped an old 6V model and unsoldered the old bulb, resoldered in a new 12V bulb. installed the cover and recrimped it.
It's not the hardest thing to do, you may loose some metal on the crimped section, but it doesn't have to all be undone, nor crimped waterproof as the bulb takes care of that.

OJBob…

Just do a search under authors here on the gee you it will take you to any of his posts, from there you can email or PM him. Right now he is with the gang in Normandy and won't be back for another week or 10 days.

I'm not too sure an automotive 1176 or whatever the modern bulb is will be as BRIGHT as his 12-volt conversions and that would be whe whole point of changing the standard 6 or 12 volt lamps that jeeps/GPAs used anyway.

Up to you though. He usually sells out of the 6 and 12 volt lamps at the MVCC meets here in CA. I know he is always looking for dead lamps to convert though....
