TM 9-2320-213-35 found
I have found a manual that I don't have on my web site. It is
--------------------------------------------------
TM_9-2320-213-35
ORDNANCE FIELD AND DEPOT MANUAL
BODY, CHASSIS AND PECULIAR-TYPE
ITEMS FOR 1/2 TON 4X4
INFANTRY LIGHT WEAPONS
CARRIER M274
JULY 1958
---------------------------------------------------
It is in pretty bad shape, really dark, stained and well used. I plan on scanning it and putting it up on the whiteworks web site so everyone can have access but I would really like your opinion on the best way to present it.
I have scanned 3 pages of it and applied 2 different treatments to try and brighten it up and would like your opinion as to which you like the best.
There are 3 links below. The RAW link shows the pages with no treatment. the Color Enhanced is after I played with the Contrast and Brightness and the Grey is converted to Greyscale with adjustments to Contrast and Brightness as well. It's going to be some work and before I begin in earnest, I would like everyone's opinion that would like to chip in to help me decide which way to go.

Color Enhanced: https://whiteworks.us/g503pics/TM_9-2320-213-35_cc.pdf
Grey Scale: https://whiteworks.us/g503pics/TM_9-2320-213-35_gs.pdf
Thanks for you input,
Mike

I think color enhanced works best, but it's close with grayscale. On these pages I'm not sure it makes a difference, but as you get to pages with more damage I expect color enhanced to be more readable.

Personally, I prefer the middle one, ending in "cc.pdf"...
I think it has the very best contrast.

I prefer the color enhanced, it is easier to read.

I think the detail is a little better in the color enhanced especially if you enlarge it a bit but it's a tough call. Either would probably suffice.

Re: TM 9-2320-213-35 found
I'd vote for the grey scale, since the original was 'black and white'. I don't think we're trying to duplicate the Magna Carta or Declaration of Independence, where the sepia tone imparts an ancient look to the document.
Whatever you do, please make your scans OCR searchable! That's the main advantage I see of electronic vs. paper manuals.
Thanks for being a great resource!
