I did a search and couldn't find an answer, probably because everybody else figured it out without help.
I just removed the fan from my 1968 A5 and tried to follow the instructions in the TM to "pull front half of self-adjusting pulley forward and slip loosened belt over edge of fan drive pulley." I pulled on the front of the pulley as hard as I could, and then tried to pry it forward with a big screw driver, without success. I finally twisted the fan assembly off of its mounting pin and wiggled it sideways to remove the pulley. I figure I can probably do that in reverse, but I suspect that I am doing something wrong and this is easier than I am making it.
Anybody have some advice?

Re: Removing fan belt
Had same issue on my 1968. The self-adjusting pulley was worn out and frozen in position. You can get the parts to rebuild pulley. I just bought an NOS fan assembly.

Thanks, sounds like that's what I need to do.
