What is this angled bracket with two mounting holes for?

It holds the strap to hold down the travel lock for the 106mm recoilless rifle.

Now I really feel old.
This was one of the first questions I asked "way back when" and the first time I ever heard about a "footman loop".
This really is the place to be, if you have questions about US military vehicles. I love this place.

Ahh that makes sense. I figured it was for a strap, but as I don't have a 106mm on mine, I couldn't figure out what it would attach to. Thanks!
