Looking for early M274 steering and gun cover

Post by bms07 » Wed Apr 03, 2019 6:50 am

I know it's a long shot. But looking for the correct steering and gun cover for the first series M274. I have the later covers. Just trying to find the correct ones.
Thanks Brad

What does an early steering pin cover look like on the original mules?

It has a round rod bent like a 90 degree. With a nut on the end. Not the flat tab like the later ones have. Maybe Charles can post a pic.

Glad to help.

Opinion: These items are going to be extremely rare - hard to find and very expensive.

These will be pics from an early M274 & M274-A1 manual

Foot Basket: The A1 used a top clamp as the A2, A4 and A5. The pic shows it on the M274 this is not correct. The M274 mounting bolt is fine threaded where the A1, A2, A4 and A5 used an acme thread.
The A5 foot basket had an elevator bolt threaded into a bracket welded to the underside of the front top tube used to limit the travel of the gas pedal.

Image

Steering Access Cover: The A1, A2 and A4 are magnesium. The A5 is 2ws and had no cover.

Image

Gun Door Cover: M274 is the left pic.

Image

Engine Cover: the M274 cover is the left pic. The M274, A1, A2 and A4 are magnesium with hooked connectors to latch into the bed. The A5 are Aluminum with straight flat connectors to latch into the bed.
