Does any one know what this is for??

I am getting my M274-A5 cleaned up to sell. While doing so I found this small round thing hanging one of the fasteners on the front passenger side drop gear. I have seen ones for securing a nut from loosening but this appears to be wrapped around the lock washer.
It is not impacting anything but Ii a curious as to its use.

Looks to be a simple lead "US" or Ordnance seal, likely placed there to indicate someone had tampered with the piece )if it's removed or damaged)Most frequently seen on ammunition boxes, but also on govenors and Ignition Regulator box lids where your not supposedd to mess with the settings.
In this particular case it may have been something that was sent out for Depot rebuild and upon return to inventory, the seal was added under that specific assembly bolt showing the part had been rebuilt by the authorized contract, not neccesarily there to prevent tampering.

I agree that it may be part of a tag that described rebuild or overhaul.

Here is another Tag that came from an A5 Marine Mule that was painted red.

This was a Marine Mule with the USMC 324335 on both sides of the bed and gas tank.

I do not know what this tag represents unless it is an accounting system used for surplus equipment?

IMO likely stands for something like: Intermediate Maintenance Organization, but it was in '79, so the definitions change. Now the Joint Mil dictionary only lists: information management officer; International Maritime Organization both of which likely had nothing to do with overhauling the mule.
It's a typical MWO (modification Work Order) tag showing it passed through that station for work and was accepted upon completion. The rectangular tag was very likely another administrative equipment assignment tag to be slapped on when they received it by a higher element prior to issuance. Seems very redundant and a waste of time and effort when the other tag is already there with a number, but it's our Government...

Case example, Joint Base Langley-Eustis used to be Fort Eustis and Langley Air Force Base... So Langley is the 'lead' in this Joint merge...they come onto the (former) army base and add their own numbering system to every building (placards and or paint) above all the old existing building numbers (those were left in place) so the revised Fire Department now under USAF regs can locate the structures.
