Cam bearing
Okay, got my parts and plan on replacing cam bearing. Looked at manual and tech section in form. A quick question,... after all the removals, etc..., I put the new cam bearing on the cam shaft, then retainer plate and gear,, and when I slide this back in the block... is the new bearing going to be tight in the block when I put the two bolts in the retainer. Does it need loctite? What keeps this new bearing from spinning... if the old one did. Any help....

Check my post in M274 Tech

I suggest loctite at the flange of the bearing. This should prevent future rotation

... well,, my wife came down to the workshop;; .. does not appreciate my hobbies and told me i should be painting the kitchen ...now!!! anyway;.. the engine was easy, except getting that gear off the camshaft was kinda tight. three pound sledge came in handy. you can see where bearing spun on retainer. and then;;.. you got to be a god dam magician to get that cam back in that oil pump. i had to bevel (slightly)the end of that key to get it in that slot. after that , runs great.......
