Pictures of mules from 101st AB?

Post by 338Edge » Sun Aug 12, 2018 8:55 am

Anyone have any pictures of mules that were with the 101st Airborne? Bonus points if anyone has some specifically to the 187th Infantry Regiment or the Rakkasan's!

Not too difficult for the 101st AB M274 with the proof on the photo :)!

Awesome! Thank you!

I'm asking for pictures, because I'm restoring a mule that was with the 101st. It would be awesome if someone had a picture of my mule in "action". I'd like to get my mule to look somewhat similar to what it used to look like.

Thanks again!

If anyone else has any, please post! :D

On the next photo, it seems that the second soldier has a 101st AB patch.

Awesome! Especially the mule driving with just three wheels.

I wonder if the mule rode any smoother with the wheel off under the driver?

The manuals say in case of a flat tire run with the right tire off.

I'd think it would be relative to what tire is flat, maybe the quote is worded wrong, maybe the flat tire should be removed

Yes, the flat tire is removed and for balance the right front is left without a tire. One time on a trail ride I clipped a stump and tore the right front drop axle off. Had no problem driving out of the woods and up on the trailer.

Wow, do you have any photos of the damage? Must have been some stump!

I was watching the clearance on the left side and clipped the brush covered stump on the left. Didn't feel like much of a bump, but broke the outer casting off and bent the axle. Left the wheel hanging on by the tie rod. Didn't get pictures. Got the repair parts from Bill Watson at a much lower price than I expected.
