how does the lifting eye come off the wheel?I removed the two allenhead sets screws, so it looks like a pin in the hole, so I hit it with punch and hammer, didn't budge at all, so is it rusted in place??? Maybe I should heat it up? But the heat would melt the wheel bearing grease?

The Hub Nut is usually held in place with a Roll Pin use an 1/8 pin punch to drive it out.
You will need to rotate the Lifting Loop and view 3 holes until you find the Roll Pin.
The Lifting Loop could be FROZEN to the O'Ring and will require a Hammer or a Pry Bar to assist in rotation.
The Axle and Nut have 6 Holes. When tightening the Nut you snug it then continue to tighten until 1 set of holes line up so the Roll Pin can be inserted. Caution make sure you drive it below the Lifting Loop so it can spin freely. I use grease on the O'Rings and 400 Grit Sandpaper the mating surfaces of the Lifting Loop.
The Roll Pin prevents the Nut from accidentally loosening allowing the wheel to fall off.
Use air to clear any Grease or Gear Lube from the holes in the Nut so you can find the Roll Pin.
When the Nut is removed then the Lifting Loop can be removed from the Hub.
You may have to use a hammer to remove the Lifting Loop from the Hub if the O'Ring is frozen to the Lifting Loop.
Process according to TM 9-2320-246-20 July 1967 pg 2-37 and 2-38 Section 2-51 Boot, Universal Joint, Wheel Hub and Steering Knuckle part a item 4

If the pin appears to be broken off flush with the surface of the axle, the nut may come off, but will probably damage the threads inside the nut. NEVER use an impact wrench unless you know for certain that the 9/64" x 1-1/4" roll pin is out.

I finally got it out, the other holes looked like there was a pin in them but couldn't budge them, but found one that I knocked out the pin,so then I got lifting eye,etc off the mule.Some of this don't make sense, I'll get back to the post after I get it apart

Thanks for all the great photos and drawing guys. It seems like every one of the axle nuts I take apart had bubba get there first and tried to take the nut off with a impact gun without removing the cotter pin and tear the crap out of both the nut and the threaded axle. Very frustrating time consuming and expensive to repair damage due to carelessness.

The lifting eyes on all my hubs were seized on the hubs. I placed them in a vice one by one and gently got the eye to move using a hard plastic mallet. I had to use a pry bar as well to get them off of the hubs. The old flattened o rings sure like to grip on to the lifting eyes . I can see regular maintenance and some grease is required to keep them in top shape

I still have the O-ring and pin kits. One small O-ring, one large O-ring, one 9/64" x 1-1/4" spring pin.
$4 per hub w/o brass hex plugs
