Chuck, sorry. You are correct.i read the number off the new tag which is an error. The original tag does start with 3245 but the rest of it is banged up and cant tell. John jr
If your Baifield serial number is, in fact, 10225, I think your registration number would be 324519. It should be painted on the LR and RF side of the bed. You may have to lightly sand through several layers of paint to find it. I would guess your delivery date would be April or May of 1968 and probably also says EMTEX DIVISION on it.

Chuck, you're correct on that info. Didnt want to sand down the paint though. I agree that the number is probably 324519. It also says emtex, and was delivered in 4-1968. Guess i better reorder my stencils. Lol thanks for the correction. John jr

Look fantastic - how will you protect it from new scratches / damage?

It already has scratches :(
I think 2 days? after I painted it I scratched it by just doing something DUMB. Oh well, the first one hurts the worst.
It'll get a rubber stall mat cut to fit. I already tried it and it's a really neat solution. Chuck gave me the idea with his.

On my A4 I have just given up on looking after the deck - with cargo and people clambering all over it; I have just had to resign myself to the fact it looks used! - my restoration is more 'in the field' anyway so it fits ..

I have this really convenient cable drive port on the side of the front cover that came with the Gen Set engine. So I figured why not put a mechanical tach/hourmeter on it. I spent a ridiculous amount of time making this mount. The tach better WORK! Now to go shop for the cable to attach it.....

Haven't posted in a while. I've just been bolting stuff back on. Still had lot's of painting to do of little parts but that all done now. Today I decided to make a new accelerator cable. Well that required making something to crimp on the little ball ferrule that goes on it near the pedals. This is what I came up with and crushed it in a hydraulic press.

On the mill making the form/die.

ready to go to the press

And just because I'm paranoid I TIG'd the end where the cable comes out. I don't think it's ever coming apart

Then I installed it. I used a MIG gun liner for the sheath. They are really smooth and slick on the inside and they usually have some type of nylon coating on the outside. I've used them before for accelerator cables and they've always worked perfect. The best part is they're inexpensive. I think I paid $12 for a 15 foot length.

The only thing keeping it from starting is a missing ignition switch which was my oversight. It's in the mail currently from Charles and will arrive on Monday. I'll probably lose my patience this weekend and mickey mouse the ground wire for the mag so it'll turn off and just start it. I don't have a lot of patience.

It runs! It actually runs pretty good :)
It still has a too do list, even though it looks done.

The big disappointment for today was that I guess some tachometers are setup to run clockwise and some are setup to run counter-clockwise. I never even thought about that. Oh well I bought the tach off ebay for 20 bucks or something and then spent a stupid amount of time building the mount. Lesson learned I'll start looking for another tach that has an hour meter on it that hopefully will fit the mount.

Anyways on to the pictures

So who noticed the kill-wire tied to the rear cage  I ended up just letting the clutch out in gear and stalling it but the wire worked good for the break in time.

Turns out they make speedo reversing adapters. Not cheap but cheaper than a new gauge and a new mount or that's how I'm talking myself into it anyways :) Plus this will actual make the cable routing much cleaner.
