Yeah, I thought it would require some work.
Looks really good.

I may try that.

Thanks,
Dave

I bought a mat from Tractor Supply ...

A bonus is the heavy weight of it. When hauling the mule to different sites I don't have to remove the mat off the bed. My friends with lighter mats on 4 wheelers have to remove them or they blow off at highway speeds.
I beg to differ on the 'won't blow off' theory! :D My Tractor Supply 1/2" x 4 foot square mats were very heavy, but came up missing after a short haul on the highway last year.

May I recommend the following as an alternative to stall matts. I was at Northern Tool the other day and came across this:
Northern Tool Foam Mat - APR 22 sm.jpg
- It's almost the perfect size: I placed it against the back, and it covers all but the first couple of inches up front.
Northern Tool Platform Covering - APR 22 sm.jpg
- It's thin enough (at only 1/4") to easily fit under the drivers' seat.
- It cuts easily, so I was able to snip a slot to wrap around the steering column adjustment shaft, and I cut holes for the seat hold-down and seat back holes.
Northern Tool Platform Covering Seat Area - APR 22 sm.jpg
- It is very light, so should be easy to remove before highway travel.
- It's made of foam rubber with a rubber diamond-plate style coating on it, so it should help protect the platform surface, and it 'gives' a bit to cushion whatever's loaded on it.
- It's cheap. I spend less than $30 for it.

Let me know what you think!

Wouldn't the mat hold water more so it promotes rusting in some areas? But then again the A5 has an aluminum bed and the others have magnesium beds so the comment is irrelevant?

Yes, a foam mat might hold moisture and cause problems. I'd suggest only keeping the Northern Tool mat on if kept inside. As noted, it'd be quick and easy to reattach.
