Weasel spotlight mounting questions

Post by signsup » Mon Oct 21, 2019 10:09 am

The spotlights I have seen mounted on weasels are in the drivers rear side tub back by the antenna mount. I have a signal lamp that I think I can use but it has no power connection on the end.
I have this clip bracket behind the drivers seat on the drivers side of the bulkhead. And a lamp bulb in the socket just nederneath the master power switch. Lights up when switch is on, so I thought this was a indicator light to indicate master power on. But I have seen images of the weasel signal lamp with a bulb type socket connection for the power.

So, what goes in this mounting bracket. And what goes in the light socket under the master switch?

I'll hang up and listen. Gotta find where I laid that darn manual . . .

That mount is for the handle once u take off the light bucket off and the bucket mounts by the antenna the cord is in a spring reel to retract. I have the cable from the reel to the voltage regulator not if u need to by one.

Picture is worth a Thousand, I was going to elaborate on it, but that's it.
Spot light "Head" can be mounted on the end of the stalk (M29) or "Head "stowed (by antenna) or used (but not stowed) on the hand reel as shown.

Note your missing the detonator "cover" as seen in the reel photo on the left covering that rectangular hole.
Remove cover pull and run

Well that explains why I felt spotlight heads in the rear of the weasels in York. My post war signal light has the long coiled cable, so I may just tuck it all under the drivers rear seat panel and mount the handle in the bracket.
So, it wires directly to power at the voltage regulator? No plug in?
Is the light under my master electricl switch supposed to b a bare bulb that illuminates when the master switch is on?

Still haven't found my manual...

Anyone got the missing detonator cover?

When using the reel, there is a powered trigger on the handle.
The windshield mounted spotlight arm has a hot wire that inserts into the plug housing on the dash with a switch on the rear of the spotlight handle.
The head mounts on either mount, or you can purchase a second one as a spare and stow it in the back, while the front searchlight remains mounted semi-permanently.
Only one came with the vehicle as issued.
There is no indicator light on the dash. I hate to suggest the TM, but it will help with a lot of photos and answers.
