You're quite welcome Jeff. In spite of the nerve racking effort, I'm glad we were able to pull it off.

So, are you in for a Pay to Play river trip to Mobile?

We'll be in Peoria in early September and am working on plans to be in Aurora Indiana in late September to coincide with the LST visit.

Yes I (we) did!!! We were hungry.

It was one heck of a rush standing there, for only going about 12MPH or so, there is an awful lot going on when a small boat comes along side of big ship underway. Skipper Dave did not miss a beat however and held us straight and steady for the entire maneuver. We enjoyed it so much that we put in a request to do the same thing on our way back to Peoria, and the LST crew came through with lunch for that trip also. I think Dave and I both may have enjoyed it a little too much!

Plus there were a couple of fine cigars in the bucket for me!
To add to the excitement, on the return trip, the LST was having cooling pump problems on her port engine and was running on the starboard only for most of the 40 mile trip. The PBR developed an overheating issue on it's port engine as well and we were running it at 75% less rpms than the starboard. We (the PBR crew) radioed the LST and informed them that we were going to pass on the transfer as there was too much that could go wrong quickly without full control on both vessels in the meandering river. They were pretty insistant that we should give it a go as I would find a special gift in the bucket. After comms with the LST's river pilot, we picked our spot and coordinated both crafts speed and movement. The transfer went without a hitch. Our lunch was good, the cigars were great!

As the Ohio weather has been playing tricks on us, and I can't seem to get much else accomplished, I took the time this past weekend to finally build the pbr6927.com web site.

That is an amazing project! Great Job!
I need to get this rig on a trailer. Would anyone know what size of trailer I should be looking for? Two or three axle?

3 Axel goose neck seems to work the best.

If you look at the photos here and on http://www.pbr6927.com you should find photos of the trailer that Dave had built by a trailer shop, and then he later modified.

Dave, I am currently (attempting) to do a 1/4 Scale Model of a PBR MKII and am looking for some Hull info. In my research, Uniflight originally made this hull; however, after their buy-out (and their fire) in the early 80’s, Like you had also mentioned, Modutech actually made replacement hulls for this boat for the Navy and these replacement hulls towered over the original Uniflights in quality and durability. I am looking for the Hull/Stringer layouts to keep my model as authentic as possible (preferably with Modutech). Is there anyway you might have the tech drawings (ie blueprints) that would help me out with this or know where to point me? I've emailed Brian at Modutech and haven't heard anything back... yet. I’ve gone down several roads with this and all leading to dead ends. I think jumping into an actual PBR at a museum with a tape measure and a camera might cause people to get upset and create a fairly big scene :D . Anyway, I hope you can help.
Thanks,
Garrett

Garrett,

Have you tried Al Ross? Look here http://www.coastalforcesplans.com/id11.html

The Modutech hulls are for sure, a much stouter built unit than the Uniflite's. I am of the opinion however, that the Modutech's were set up for an inline 6 cyl diesel and 20 YJ Jacuzzi pumps. Stringers are closer together than in a Uniflite, spacing between engine compartment bulkheads in 1 1/2" shorter in the Modutech as well, along with a couple other subtle differences. My transom was definitely keyed for 20 YJs. Just my observations; Modutech doesn't seem to want to talk PBRs.
