Weasel Studebaker Champion Engine question

Post by signsup » Fri Jan 11, 2019 6:26 pm

My M29C Champion engine sounds and runs strong, so it won't need much, but when I pull it out if I need engine parts, are they just "standard" Chmpion 170 6 vyl parts? I know the weasel carb is unique, but things like generator, starter, manifolds, ignition parts, etc... can I use NAPA parts for the Studebaker?

I have a small crack in the exhaust manifold that I may be able to weld up upon removal, but if I need a new one, I don't know if the exhaust pipe diameter is standatudebaker or unique to the weasel.

The water pump is unique and difficult to find much like the carburetor. From what I understand, the distributor, manifolds, & starter are unique too, but those are more likely to be there and not have issues. I believe most the internals are not unique. I'm not sure about crank pulley or generator. I imagine generator was used in other 12 volt MVs.
