la posta di Tom! (tech inquiries to MVPA)

Post by pierino » Mon Apr 27, 2015 9:52 am

ciao!

Hello to all,

This thread is open to all USA vehicles.

Here are some of the data points that can help you to learn more about your vehicle or vehicles. Photos of these data points are most helpful. Even if you do not need the history on your vehicle the data will still be most useful to others around the world looking to learn about their vehicle's history.

Serial number data plate data - Serial number ____________
***** Original - Yes______ ? or No______ ?
***** DoD or Date -_________________
***** Weight stamped on data plate - ________________
***** In case of jeeps
**********Stamping in small box above the serial number stamping - ________________
Frame Number
Body Number - ___________
***** In case of the jeep
*********Rear panel has script Willys or Ford - Yes________ or No________
********* ACM type 1 - Yes_____ ?
********* ACM type 2 - Yes_____ ?
********* Ford - Yes______ ?
( ACM type 1 [ 5 hole body gusset ] the number is at front outside edge )
( ACM type 2 [ 3 hole body gusset ] the number is on the front face )
( Ford made bodies have no gusset number )
Motor Number - ___________
********* 638632 on lower right side - Yes_________?
************** Casting date numbers to left of 638632 - ______________
********* GPW 6015 or lower right side - Yes________?
************** Casting data below distributor and above the GPW 6015 ( if available ) - ____________
Hood number - _________________
******** Original - Yes______ or Estimated - Yes________ or Unknown - Yes________

These data points will be a good starting point. I may ask for more details on an individual basis to better fine tune your vehicle's history.

Hi Tom

Yesterday I was talking with Maurizio about my CCKW, looking at his beautiful steering wheel
Image
When I bought it and restored, I decided to protect wood with special oil and not to paint it. But maybe during the war, it was easier to paint it with the internal structure and all was OD.
Is there any reference or specs about this point?
The only think I know is that at the beginning steering wheels were made of hard rubber and then changed in late '42...

Maybe you can have more detailed infos 8)

This jeep was lend lease to the Russian army. I'd appreciate it if you could help me understand the data posted are correct. Thank you

comunque,... sei socio MVPA?
