Sulla sezione Wiki di questo sito (http://wiki.g503.com/index.php/00_Books_Group) è presente una lista delle pubblicazioni ufficiali relative alle G503. Pensando di fare cosa utile, allego di seguito una ulteriore lista delle pubblicazioni tecniche in vigore nel gennaio 1945 (esclusi i Modification Work Orders, comunque già elencati dal Wiki). Si tratta di una lista utile per seguire alcune modifiche agli autocarri da ¼ di tonnellata dopo la pubblicazione del TM 9-803, che sostituisce i precedenti manuali editi dal QMC. Da notare che alcuni TB relativi al manuale 9-803 lo predatano di parecchio (ad esempio, il TB 9-803-3, che era ancora applicabile nel gennaio 1945, è di sette mesi precedente al manuale). Ciò perché l’Ordnance Department evidentemente aveva determinato di assegnare il numero di manuale alle Jeep (“ereditate” dal QMC nell’agosto 1942) parecchio tempo prima di procedere alla sua pubblicazione (che non aveva alta priorità, dato che già esisteva la serie 10 dei manuali editi dal QMC).

Nella lista le sigle dei documenti sono le seguenti:

TB = Technical Bulletin
TC = Training Circular
TM = Technical Manual

Nell’utilizzare la lista (che oltre che come reference può servire per darsi dei riferimenti cronologici su specifiche questioni) si tenga presente che la data di pubblicazione – soprattutto per le pubblicazioni più importanti come i TM - non corrisponde necessariamente alla data alla quale uno specifico equipaggiamento / modifica divenne effettivamente disponibile / operativo; ciò per i tempi tecnici connessi alla pubblicazione stessa. Inoltre, si tenga presente altresì che le pubblicazioni relative alle modifiche da effettuare sui veicoli già in servizio non corrispondono necessariamente (come data) all’introduzione della medesima modifica sui veicoli in fabbrica, che generalmente è anteriore

Infine, si usi cautela nel trarre conclusioni dalle date di singole pubblicazioni, altri documenti o notizie potrebbero modificare il quadro.

Prendiamo ad esempio l’introduzione dell’affusto M31C al posto del tipo M31.

L’uso della culla E10014 sugli affusti veicolari (incluso l’M31, che con ciò diviene M31C) è illustrato nella Change #1 (datata 8 ottobre 1945) al TM 9-224 Machine Gun Mounts for Trucks del 22 aprile 1943. Tuttavia, già prima della Change #1 la materia era già stata disciplinata con MWO ORD A55-W10 del 15 marzo 1945. E la standardizzazione della nuova culla era stata approvata dall’Ordnance già prima del novembre 1944.

Basandosi sulla sola Change al manuale, si sarebbe potuto trarre una conclusione errata sulla data di possibile utilizzo del nuovo affusto sulle jeep (naturalmente lo studio di foto originali di veicoli aiuta parecchio in questo tipo di ricerche).

e le specificazioni sulle cautele con le quali le datazioni devono discendere da queste pubblicazioni sono quanto mai appropriate... 8)

lo blocchero' per evitare repliche che possano direttamente inquinarlo, anche se auspico che i commenti possano essere molteplici e interessanti, anche se postati in altri topic appositamente aperti.

col tempo, spero di riuscire ad inserire anche le immagini di quelle pubblicazioni, in elenco, delle quali sia già in possesso... :)
