EARLY SLAT (NO GLOVE BOX?) DATA TAG PLACEMENT

Post by Jim Kilbourne » Fri Aug 03, 2007 1:25 pm

I read on a different post that two early slat owners say their data tag is on the far right position and not in the middle and it appears to be original in their opinions.

I went and looked at my slat, 106245, and though it does not have the tags, the hole spacing is different for each tag. Measuring the holes indicates that my data tag was on the far right as well....

If we dont have collected info on this yet...I think we should start posting data here and then add the detail to the serial number list William started when we narrow down the date/SN that moved the tag to the middle spot....

Jim you might want to start a sticky on this and list each jeep with the location of the plates. Maybe you will see some sort of pattern. We are still hoping for more info on the fat vs skinny drive shaft.

So it looks like this may be a glove box versus no glove box thing...

Bill has a good idea to make this a sticky...but I dont see that option when I am logged on....

so do I need a moderator to do that? (Done)

slat grill

Post by MATT » Wed Aug 08, 2007 11:08 pm

I have and have owned several non-glove box slat grills in the past with original data plates and the nomenclature plate has always been in the far right position. I have owned one glove box (late) slat grill and the nomenclature plate was in the middle of the glove box.

Data Plate location

Post by 42slat » Mon Aug 13, 2007 8:28 pm

Some drunk GI must have put the data plates on my slat. I have MB 109964 and the main plate with the information is in the middle. It was in the middle when I bought the slat and all the screw holes line up in that same manner.

well,

Thanks to those who have replied so far,

but I would say overall the response to this has been anemic.

If you reply please post your S/N...and glove box option or not...repoop body or not (if you know) ...wihtout that minimal data we can't nail this down...

Already some conflicting data....

Thanks

Slat 119343 CDN242. Original body and plates. No glovebox. Plates as follows from left -Shift plate/Caution plate/Nomenclature plate on far right.
I was never sure if this was a Canadian Contract thing or standard slat (non glove box)

All the non glovebox slatgrills I have seen have the Nom. plate to the far right.

MB112054 has the nom plate on the right, as does MB109234. The other slat i have, no glove box (but no chassis or data plates present) also has the nom plate to the right.
