Hi Michael,

What sets the early ones apart from the later ones?

What’s the date they changed to the later version?

I own I06I63, do I need early brackets?

Cheers,

Jos

The early rear brackets are distinguishable from the later brackets as they have shallow horizontal lines on the raised surface on the front side. I’m not sure of the changeover date but I would make an educated guess that it was in the 1943 time frame? A change in the stamping die perhaps? I’m more of a GPW technical data guy and would need to reference my MB book library to find you an answer on that. Perhaps other with more MB knowledge will chime in?

Still looking for a pair of early MB rear top bow brackets.

Hi Michael,

Well, that probably means I will need an early set rear top bow brackets as well.

Thanks for your clarification.

Cheers,

Jos

Those swage marks are an early thing and did not last into 1943.

I think they were gone before Slat Grille production ended in March 1942.

I have also seen VEP "F" stamped brackets with the same swage marks.

Cheers,
Peter
