The timeframe between casting and machining is about right. It does seem a little early for an Dec MB. Then again it could have been loaded last into the truck, put in the storage area at the back, then waited until they got all the way back to that block. Kind of the same was we see the numbering of the 2A bodies. it's kinda like a saw-tooth pattern. WO used the same block casting from the Americar all the way into early 2A production.

It looks like original stamping for me.
I have some MA blocks cast in 3 (March) and used in June/July (MA production months) with original stamping.
They simply took stock engines and stamped Military numbers on. Both military (MA, Slats) and civilian Willys (441) vehicles used same engines at same time. But different stampings.
Looks like nice original Slat grill block.

Heard back from shop today with inspection results. No cracks, .020 over on cyls. some taper and rust, may clean up at 40 over. Will get all new valves, guides, seats and springs and some msc parts. Wonder if Ron drop ships parts. Other than a center line bore seems like all standard rebuild parts. So far no surprises. Will wait to order parts till I know for sure what the cyls will come out to.

Put all the valve train parts in the shopping carts at RFJP, Springs, guides, valves, cam bearing. Like $200 bucks so far. 3 of the valves were missing, so I will send 6 keepers and 3 retainers from here. Bearings and pistons will come later.

Center line job is done,, cyls cleaned up at .040, crank .020 and .020. Going to order pistons, rings, bearings, chain setup and some msc parts this weekend.

I found an early front mount plate in the garage, also a early rivited oil pan that is on another engine from 42 will be used for this motor. Waiting to hear a price on an intake.

I may put this up for sale as the rolling slat that i was going to use went to somebody who wanted it more.

I also have a slat bell housing, and slat t case and slat radiator. working on a correct tranny.

Price for engine, not gonna be cheap.

I was in Abrahams last week and saw Adam's engine; looks very nice, and the markings are definitely original.
