Slat Grille Replaceable air filter

Post by 7777kx » Wed Oct 19, 2022 9:06 pm

I am currently having a prototype replaceable/cleanable air filter element manufactured for my Slat, to replace its oil-bath filter.
If i am happy with the companies unit, once manufactured would any other Slat owners be interested in such a unit?
Thanks Alan

I believe there already are reproduction pancake filters out there that use a standard filter element instead of the oilbath, but I don't know how many were made or who made them. It shows it can be done :)

Are you planning on reproducing the whole unit or just the internal filter element?

Hi Alan,
There is already an off the shelf unit. In any case available at a shop near me  : https://www.vanbuurenjeeps.com/product/ ... -assembly/
Looks as it is from a well known manufacturer.

Thank you for the relpy and for the link. I have an original air cleaner assembly, its just a replaceable internal element i wanted, hence getting one specially manufactured.

There are 2 different conversations happening here. Alan has an original pancake air cleaner. That air cleaner is an oil bath, and the original element is made of horse hair. That is what he is looking to replace. Thus what he is looking to have made.

A reproduction pancake air cleaner is completely dry (not an oil bath) and uses a modern, off the shelf filter/element. These are easily found. But these filters will not fit inside an original pancake air filter. Which, again, why Alan is looking to have these made.
