Slat grill body gusset support

Hello, who can tell me what goes under the body gusset, if anything, on a glove box slat grill

Yes, the bolt is for the fender or wing but I want to know what goes between the body gusset and the chassis rail

On MB #116494 I found a rubber pad under each gusset. They where identical to the rest of the body mounting pads. Wedged in place. The tub has never been removed so I assume it’s factory.
