Re: New slat grill short windshield on market now
Reviewed your video. Did you do a side by side comparison of short versus regular windshield photo?
2 inch difference does not seem like much given the short stature of WW2 troops. My slattie in the 122xxx range so “regular” ( standard or “late” ) windshield has been repaired to functional status. You were right , it was a challenge to say the least. Next time I am buying new. Those channels were a PIA to get proper dimensions. And I did not have the fun of opening a package like you did.

I did compare it with a tape measure to my GPW and it is 2” shorter. Not sure how to do a photo comparison.

I don't have access to my manuals. What serial number did the switch to a taller windshield?

3,545 had the shorter one, so 103547 would be the first with the standard windshield. They started with 100001 so add one for the last with the short windshield and add another for first with the taller.

See if this works out. Clearly a difference.

Re: New slat grill short windshield on market now
At least that’s what they say on the numbers. My original slattie is 10390? Going from memory and it has the short windshield AND the short windshield hood with the longer catches and offset hood blocks, so I’m thinking 103547 is not an accurate short windshield cutoff number but everyone assumes it is because that “official” number has been passed around and published, so it becomes gospel.
I think there is definitely some variation to that number with putting hoods and windshields on jeeps with whatever was in The parts bin at the factory that day.
