Slat grill radiator question

Post by ANDY » Mon Aug 23, 2021 5:32 pm

Hi I have the opportunity to purchase a cj jeep for parts and it has a what appears to be a slat grill radiator. Can anybody give me any advice as you cannot see the front indents in the angle of the shot could it be something else? If it’s original slat, in good shape, what could the value be?

I don't see anything on the back side of the cap. I would say its not an early MB radiator.

I see top support differences and frame differences, until it is out and on the ground with better pics, who knows what is all there,

To clarify, the so called 'slat' radiator appears in production of MB's to at least June 42 as per factory photos.

I`ve been told there are minor differences in the radiators (eg comparing a Nov 41 with a May 42) but it wasnt elaborated what they were, though from a metre away they appear to be the same.

It's just like the so called 'slat speedo' which appears in MB's up to at least early March 42 not to mention Dodges and other early war bigger trucks!

Cheers,
Ian.

Thanks for the input little confusing to me but here are more pictures there are definitely not any indents on either the front or rear side of the radiator just the two ovals on top...thanks Andy

Question? is this radiator worth keeping and replacing with standard MB ...if the jeep is going to be used as purely a parts (by someone else) rig as it is completely rusted and modified? Note that the sheet metal shroud is homemade and is not part of the radiator it’s purely tacked on
