Slat rear frame x-member rivet

Post by Hobo » Sun May 02, 2021 5:01 am

Hi Guys!

The below picture shows Canadian MB 118794, DoD 2-20-42.
The rivet in the rear cross member plate below the pintle hook has a prominent X in it. I have not noticed this on others jet. So, I wonder was this genuine or has someone restored the rear end of the frame? (The little screw to the left is for the cable clamp of the differential light for Canadian ETO Jeeps). Any other Slats with the X on the rivet?

Sorry no one has corresponded back, my slat grill had been modified with Bubba cutting off my original bumper. I just finished welding a nice reproduction rear bumper from our host Ron. Wish I could advise original rivet, maybe this will encourage others to go look and correspond!

Thanks Hal!

Bubba owned my Jeep as well and thought a piece of railway rail does a much better job compared to what Willys designed! :?
...so, as I need to rpair that "damage" also, I did ask the question in advance, to do it right!
It concerns MB 119965, so it is very close to the one pictured.

Anyone?

I will check my slat chassis tomorrow (Sunday), it is awaiting front horn repair but has original untouched rear x-member.

Here a picture of the project as it arrived:

And here as of today:

...currently thinking what to do. Get a repro x-member, get an original complete, or just insert the middle section. On this model it was bolted, not rivited, because of the lifting rings...but in any case I would like to be sure regarding the centre rivet!

Hobo,
I apologize for the delay, I had computer issues. My slat grill frame does indeed have a rivet in the x-member right where yours is but it does not have the "X" marking on it, but mine may be worn off.

Thanks for looking Greencom. Do you have a DoD for your slat? It may have a production date background.
