Dear Gmember's
I'm restoring my generator GEG 5001 A for my slatgrill.
The original tag doesn't exist anymore, I need to remade a new tag and stamp an approach serial number for this slat grill end of decembre 1941.
Could you confirm me you serial number of your generator on your slatgrill?
I appreciate your help in this case!
Take care
Christophe

Re: GEG 5001 A Serial number???
I don't think serial numbers carried over month to month. If your SG was delivered in Dec '41 then I would date your generator to October or November 1941 (10V or 11V) depending on how early or late in Dec it was delivered.
As far as the serial number you could safely choose a number in the 3000 range for either month and no one would ever question your decision...for example, 11V 003123. Autolite generator serial numbers seem to always be six digits total...so SN 3123 would be stamped 003123. It is also of note that two-digit months are seen stamped sideways on the generator tag before the month code.

Re: GEG 5001 A Serial number???
Dear Michael
First thanks for your answer
My SG has a VIN 105879 end of december 26th 1941.
It means my generator tag could be 11V or 12V
For the serial number I will select 2300 because slatgrill's Paolo Batisti has VIN 104065 and the serial number of the generator is 486.
I have added the difference and I got 2300. Finaly it will be: GEG-5001-A 11V 002300
Thanks Michael for your help I appreciate very much and take care

Re: GEG 5001 A Serial number???
Christophe, that would be a very plausible date and serial number combination. Its a minute detail that many will never see, but as with my own restoration details, you'll known its there and done correctly. I commend you on your attention to detail.
