Hello folks,
I have traded around a little obtained a slat grill. The frame tag was cut in half when they welded the bumper. The dash tags are missing. I located a body gusset number of 17722. It is an early gusset, square sump, no glovebox body. Anyone have an estimate of hood number, frame number, and dash tag number?

Re: Slat body number
Hello. Not sure if this helps. I have slat # 116494 body tub number is 18,484 so about 2,000 greater than frame number. Original hood number is 2048180. Does your frame tag have any numbers left to read?

Re: Slat body number
I show these other bodies close:
#17629 was used on MB-115169 DoD of Jan 29, 1942.
#17470 was used on MB-115549 DoD is UNK
#17722 YOUR MB
#17942 was used on MB-115707 DoD is claimed as Feb 2, 1942 (may be an estimate)
#18480 was used on MB-116500 DoD of Feb 3, 1942
Be warned though that body numbers tended to jump around a lot. I believe that happened because of shipping logistics caused by the large size of the bodies, and how they were moved around in the plants. But based on the ones above, you're MB might be in that 115XXX chassis range with a DoD in mid-Jan to mid-Feb of 1942.
I'd guess a hood number in the 20469XX to 20481XX range.
Hope this helps,
Cam
