Re: Square Tank Housing
I believe the change was made when they added the glove box.

Re: Square Tank Housing
Depends if you have a Canadian contract slat grill as these had rounded tank well with slat grill, no glovebox etc. It confused the hell out of me when I got mine as I kept thinking the tank well was wrong!

Re: Square Tank Housing
John Farley markes the change over at MB 118600 from square to round. That was just prior to the Canadian Contract Jeeps.
There were other change overs at the same time:
- two hinge to one long hinge at tool box covers
- re-design of the strengthener bracket on the driver side from straight to standard fish tail type
- glove box supposedly introduced with MB 120697
- due to the above, the fire extinguisher changed side from passenger to driver
- Split rims introduced with MB 120700
- battery tray changed to standard at the same time
- possibly around this time the exhaust pipe guard plate A5415 was added to the skid plate
While still a little discussion is to be had on the phasing out of the slat grill, Farley marks it at MB 124309 with the change over to the Oakes air cleaner at the same time.
So, February to March 1942 MBs can be quite different over only a few weeks of production...
