Another ID question (engine)

Post by Danmb45 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 8:00 pm

Is there a way to tell when my engine was manufactured? Trying ascertain weather it is correct for my 41 slat grill.

machining date stamp under oil pan on gasket surface of block. No serial number on the block and casting number?

The block casting date should be on the passenger side of the block, about 5 inches forward of the bell housing and 1 1/2 inches above the oil pan. That will give you a month and date, the MB number stamped on the machined pad under the oil filter will tell you what year it was made.
