Re: Very early mirror arm
I thought the hex nut style was an optional mirror arm assembly for the GPW.

Re: Very early mirror arm
Here are a few pics - comparison side by side.
For the detail pigs amongst us: Yes, the hex nut is a bit longer than the original. Wrench size is the same as the original.
I also have a few that I have made using original bottoms (large OD tube + hex nut) and a reproduction top (small OD tube)
Please specify if you want the repro or the hybrid
Price is $90 shipped international . Mirror arm ships from Germany.Payment by Paypal "Friends and Family"
Please send a PM if you are interested.

Re: Very early mirror arm
To the best of my knowledge no one seems to have identified a firm date despite dozens of posts over the past decade....some arms have been found scattered amongst slats as late as Jan 42, some claim only the first 3 MBs had these, some claim that not even the MAs had these! However more than one TM including one from '44 lists these as an option for an arm, without any cutoff date being specified.
Maybe there are folks with more definitive information out there? I am simply getting one because it is rare and looks good. The arm on my slat needs replacement anyway as it looks like a combination of half of this arm and another shorter half of something patched together. Thanks.

Re: Very early mirror arm
They look very similar to M151 arms, is there any difference?
What size is the arm mounting bolt hole?

Re: Very early mirror arm
Here are some pics I saved years ago, note the differences in the end where the mirror is attached and the mounting hardware...
