Slat grill completion
After 10 years of hunting down the missing correct Slat grill parts, it is finally done. I used as much original parts as practically possible in the restoration. A few of the smaller bits are reproduction, like the gas tank, bumper gussets and bumper, but all the big pieces are original. The body was restored with allot of new sheet metal and the Engine is a uniquely stamped Canadian replacement block dated Jan 1943. Most of the bolts a TR20 marked.I used TM9 enamel paint and marked it with the Lord Strathcona Light horse (Armor regiment) markings from WWII. All components have been rebuilt along with the engine. The research, hunting and restoring has been fun, but I am considering selling it to help motivate me to move on to something else. I am thinking of asking $34 000.00 US dollars for it and looking for some feedback. I picked this number because it seems to be about midpoint between 20 and 40 where some of the restored slats have been listed. What are your thoughts, too high or a bit low?

Hello Jamie,
in my opinion, your request seems a quite low due to the rarity of the slat grill Canadian contract and the level or restoration made.
Congratulations, perfect job!!
Take care,
Best Regards
Luigi

What a superb restoration Jamie, my jeep is a Canadian Slattie, and you have done it identical to mine, personally i would not sell it, but i would enjoy the plaudits of a magnificent job which is a absolute credit to you. Well done.

Re: Slat grill completion
Thanks for the comments. It is difficult to get a sense of value because there is not much history to work from on a restored Canadian Slat grill jeep. I have noticed over the years there seems to be a difference on North American values in comparison to European values. Still curious in getting some more feedback on slat grill values.

Re: Slat grill completion
Jamie, i paid £21,000 for mine about 6 months ago, thats about $28,000 . I felt i had a good deal, is yours a CDLV 242 CONTRACT ? I have seen ordinary ww2 Jeeps for sale over here in the UK for £30,000 plus so if you are selling, maybe you should ask a top price on what is a superb restoration. Cheers Mark.

Amazing Jamie, mine is 4 days older than yours, my serial no. is 119696, there are some photos of it on this site, it comes under jeep photos. The contract 242 was for 1500 jeeps, and the guy i bought mine from reckoned there were 37 of them left in the world, yours makes it 38.

Nice. Job. I know the work that goes into restoring a slatty like yours. Finding parts is tough. I had just about three years work in mine and probably eight or so just collecting pieces. It helped to have some great resources in my friends who helped all along the way.
Good luck with your sale.

Great rebuild you got there.
Where is the information that says what contract the early jeeps were from? Mine is 103768 12.12.41
Many thanks
Al

Al, looking at your jeep no. i think it may be too early for the Canadian contract, love to see some pictures of it though, cheers Mark.

Near Cambridge - see the 103768 listing in serial numbers. If you know of an early block let me know!
