Wanted - Need my Slat Gauges refurbished

Post by Oddball42 » Wed Jan 25, 2023 1:28 pm

I need my slat gauges serviced/refurbished and am looking for contacts and/or links. I'm in the final stages of restoration on my jeep and have temporary repop gauges, but really want my originals fixed.

What I need, I think!

1) Confirmed working
2) Cleaned up
3) White repainted
4) Not sure about the speedo wheels, they would need a look.

Do you have any suggestions on who does this, emails / links / etc? I am not going to attempt this myself.

Have you gone back through the old posts in the tec. section. used to be referrals in there going back a few years.

I had my gas gauge restored through Bob's Speedometer. It was stupid expensive, $500. That was the only gauge not being reproduced. My speedo was later MB so I sold it. The other gauges I just bought new ones and am selling off the originals. It's just not cost effective to spend another $1500 on gauges when I can replace them with duplicates for $200. My slat project is already more than enough money.

Hello Oddball,

I am thinking your AMP gauge is from a later production jeep, as the early slats had a -30 +30 Amp gauge, especially a 41 Slat, and not a -50 + 50.

You may be able to locate a decent one, that won't need restoration ?
Or an nos 50 - 50 instead of rebuilding it, a whole lot cheaper.

I unfortunately don't know of any rebuilders for the speedos and gauges.

Best Regards,
Ray

I would be willing to sell my slat ammeter. Contact me for details. I haven’t a method to check if it works. None of my vehicles are 6v and I don’t want to possibly damage it.

You can try:
APT Instruments 9632 Humboldt Ave. S Bloomington,MN 55431 952.881.7095
He does superb work, but is very very expensive, and can take a long long time.
He has some NOS parts, and does silkscreen work for faces, unlike others who are drifting toward decals and such.
Way better then Bob's.
