Better titled "Three minutes of picking it up and putting it down while talking about restoring it."?

Can I see your video about it? I am showing the condition of it, hence the title "starts restoration." I am doing the work now and will post a video when I am done.

Tim,
I don't have a video about it, and I didn't advertise one. Making a video while I work is too hard for me to do, so I don't.
I apologize as I totally mis-read your title and intent to just show it's starting condition. I was interested in seeing how you were restoring it, not a video talking about it. Sure, I'd like to see it when you're done.

I tend to think that videos are a lot more useful (could be mistaken about that) when they actually show work being done, not just talking about it and then showing the finished product --- with not a tool or technique to be seen anywhere in between. The stuff in the middle is the most useful, to me anyway. And of all the folks with a camera and a desire, not many can make a truly useful video. Making useful video appears to be much harder than it looks.

Like many, I bite and click on a lot of videos that are disappointing. Nothing new about that.

Good luck!

A lot of people have never seen an original AC filter. I did another video of it disassembled and explained how to do that, and my plan for the work on it. Once it is done I will do another one that explains the processes I used. That will be in about a week when everything is complete. It's taking several different techniques to get it done.

I just put the main body it in black today and the decal is coming Monday. It should be done mid-next week.

Yo MAJ Tim! I have the slat grille AC air filter “in process”. Upon initial disassembly I found a cork gasket between the upper and lower portions in the center channel. Did you find one there?
Cleaning my horse hair filter with mineral spirits revealed a bit of crud. Being a contained filter, I am reluctant to subject it to particulate bombardment in my media blaster so I am opting for paint stripper and hand abrasion. Debating whether as to convert to dry filter or not.
Highest regards thanks for the sharing. JeePa

In that case it might be better to get a repro filter that have the dry filter, as a conversion would ruin an original one?

Yo David; Good perspective. The debate is done. Much easier to do the cosmetic update when I detailed a conversion. When finished ( if ever🙄) the machine will not be seeing the excruciating service it saw previously. Considering how the original filter media worked judging by the clean out effluvia, the original filter will suffice. Interesting that more modern media for filtering made to make maintenance “easier” in this case, can be such a difficult/ expensive process than just cleaning up the original component as originally intended. BTW, I was not aware there was a commercial dry filter element reproduction of the AC filter readily available.
I look forward to reviewing MAJ Tim’s videos on his process of restoring his AC filter. Always willing to learn a better way.
Highest Regards, Jeepa

I have been using the original filter and never had any problems, I don't drive that much so it's no problem to just change the oil and rinse the filter with some old gasoline once a year :)

I'm one of those that haven't seen the original AC. Good video, Tim.
