WTB Low Profile Resistor 12480604

Post by Hell On Wheels » Mon Aug 23, 2021 8:03 am

I'm looking for this low profile resistor. I couldn't find this version in the TM does anyone know of this one below? I think the part number is 12480604 but I could not find it in the TM's. Does anyone know or have a better part number?

Looks like it was only used on m1114? If so, it will be harder to find.

I know but that resistor sits real close the the speedometer shielding/cable and with vibrating it may ground out like in my initial power up. Or I may need to relocate it all together but I like the idea of that version

Yeah, that should be a standard part.
I have the electric speedo with no issues. now you have me wanting to look in the dash....
And, I have extra wires in there for the tach, too. Maybe more after I install the heated w/s switch box.

I as well have that tach harness with others for my a/c switch when I installed that relocation bracket it only gave it a less that 1/8 of inch spacing. I used a piece of plastic as shielding to keep from touch but that is temporary.

Can the relocation bracket be put in backwards? Is the bracket supposed to move the resistor towards or away from the speedo?

Yes it is. The issue is the resistor wiring will not allow to flip around unless extending the wires which I considered I need to relook at it.

You reuse the old resistor, it’s the new mounting plate 12480918 that you want, it moves the resistor to the right side a bit…

Yes that is it. I used that bracket. Seems that they still could have shifted the new mounting holes at least a half inch more to allow for better clearance. On my resistor on the left side it has that little nut on the resistor that sticks out making it hard to put the left rear new mounting nut. That little nut is really close to the odometer cable. I wonder if resistor has changed and now they do not come with that little nut. I think it’s 5/16 sitting right above the mounting bolt I think that resistor I have is 1986 original and bigger.
