Humvee wanted for 5 hour rent in FL

Post by signsup » Tue Feb 11, 2020 8:20 pm

I am President of the GA MVPA and was contacted by an event coordinator in Boca Raton, FL looking for a Humvee to park as in indoor ballroom centerpiece for a USO themed corporate event on Friday, Feb. 28. No specific wants or demands, desert tan or od green, armed or unarmed, Army or Marines, etc. Just a Humvee is what the client wants.
6:00 in the evening Friday night until 1:00 in the morning Saturday. They will provide a hotel room for the night. Oh, and their budget is $3k for this rental.

PM me and I will forward you the event coordinator's contact information.

6-1 is 7 hours + not being able to get it out at that hour.
Any reason he didn't contact someone in the FL MVPA?

Jason,
A. He is a she
B. Yes, 7 hour rental, not 5. So, only $428 per hour
C. Yes, can't pull out a 1:00, so hotel room is provided.
D. I don't know why other people do what they do, or why.

I have PM'd you contact information, but it sounds like you may not be the best fit to work with them.

Good luck.

Very nice woman. Conversation was going well until she asked how I would get the HMMWV there. I told her I would drive it. That seemed like the wrong answer. She told me she would get back to me after that...it's only 2 hr 45m away
How many people does it take to push a HMMWV into a ballroom from the parking lot?
The military uses drip pans in a field. Maybe I should spread cardboard up under it, just in case? and to keep it out of sight?
hotel room will not be at same location.
There will be a Bob Hope impersonator.
I was kind of under the impression that the $3,000 budget is split between multiple vehicles. I am not sure though. She had to go.

My tires leave marks in the driveway when I turn the wheels. I would hate to see what happens to carpet.

This full sized Styrofoam Hummer was at SFO a few years ago. Maybe it still exists.

There's always Lego...
Only do it if your comfortable with the mission.
For the price as sheet of black plastic/throw carpet or such could be laid down for $30. Ask if the doors are wide enough for a HUMVEE to fit through, a WWII jeep might be all they can squeeze in there...

For me it's the "prep" time for doing an event that makes it more of a PITA, a wedding next 6 June they want a WWII vehicle, the Command Car makes sense for ease of entry with a large dress even if she will have to step, but I need to repaint the Car to return her to beautiful status and Armor-all the tires, clean the seats so she doesn't get anything on her tail, etc. so it's a few days prep for a show event (to meet my standards) and that's time I could have been doing something else.

She never called back. She had asked if a company's name was on registration. I told her it is registered, titled, and insured only in my name. She then said they may be able to use their insurance? I told her I was not a member of MVPA. She said they may want to go through them.

I dont think they have thought thru getting a HMMWV into the ballroom. I believe this is a Waldorf Astoria branch. Who would be responsible for damage to floors from tires, drips, etc. If they used me, I would be by myself, so they would need to have folks to get it in the building. The cheapest room that night is about $700 / night!

Maybe should she just call an exotic car rental place in Miami. They may have a Humvee for a lot less money. And it will look used.

I have no issue doing it. But, I am not a production. I can only get the item to the venue. She said two others fell thru already.

DJ,
My fault. I thought I posted to PM me for contact information, not post a reply on a forum thread that I do not check often as I do not own a Humvee. Hope it's not too late, I have passed your text number onto her.

Good luck.
