3.08 diffs…or any diffs really

I have 2 NOS diffs for my build. Before I bolt them all in etc, what are some good ways to test bearings and clearances of the gears. They do indeed look NOS but I don’t trust them til I know they’ve been checked out properly.

Take the covers off and inspect for rust.
Buy ring and pinion paint and check backlash and go from there.
Replace seals regardless. Easy to do while on yoir bench..

Is the case spreader needed for our diffs? I had the one for the HMMWV, but it got left behind during a move. :cry:
