2 temp sensor wires
Hello there, I am working on a M151 project. I need a new temp sensor and while looking for a replacement I came across a sensor for a humvee that has 2 connecting wires. What do those wires normally control? I'm hoping that 1 wire can be used for the gauge and 1 wire for the electric fan I'm installing. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Re: 2 temp sensor wires
There are at least 3 components with 2 wires for the hmmwv engine.
Kick down temp sensor for IP idle
Coolant temp sensor for gauge
Thermostatic switch coolant temp sensor for activating fan solenoid
Which one do you have?

Re: 2 temp sensor wires
Hello, thank you for answtering. I don't have one yet, am looking to buy one and saw that a humvee sensor had the 2 wires and I would like to have 1 wire for a temp gauge and 1 wire to kick on an electric fan. If that works, I'm also wondering at what temp it would kick the fan on, hoping that its around 180-190. I also have a slight clearance problem near where the sensor comes out of the back of the block on this project, so it having wires with boots instead of just a single boot mounted directly to the sensor.

I was looking at a 2 wire humvee temp sensor.

Re: 2 temp sensor wires
The are no such dual use sensor/switch units for hmmwv.
Closest is a switch, thermostatic #12338599 that changes state around 215 to 220 f.
Other is a switch, cold advance #12338596 that changes state but I dont know what temp it switches at.
The coolant sensor is hmmwv m series and requires an m series gauge.
Good luck.

Re: 2 temp sensor wires
I think the 2-wire senders in the HMMWV has 1 in and 1 out, not 2 out. If it was 2 out on the same switch, it seems they would have just tied the wires together in the harness.
