Post by Ted Gates » Sun Oct 23, 2016 8:15 am

Hi all,
I'm starting this thread so that there is a collection of factory a/c installation information. Such as freon charge and oil quantities.
I found thus far:
R4 compressor, Delphi 1135 , Part number 52381135

Freon F134A

Compressor oil:
Polyalkylene Glycol Oil, PAG 150 (180 Viscosity), AC Delco #15-118

Oil volume, new system not prelubed:
Compressor 9 FL Oz, Evaporator 3 FL Oz, Condenser 1 FL Oz, Accumulator 2 FL Oz.

Freon charge, fl oz, for
2 man, front only: R134a, 1 lb 7 Oz (0.65 kg)
4 man, front and rear: R134a, 3 lb 8 Oz (1.59 kg)

Ambient temperature chart for R134A
Outside temp 65f, low pressure 25-35psi, high pressure 135-155psi
70f, 35-40, 145-160
75f, 35-45, 150-170
80f, 40-50, 175-210
85f, 45-55, 225-250
90f, 45-55, 250-270
95f, 50-55, 275-300
100f, 50-55, 315-325
105f, 50-55, 330-335
110f, 50-55, 340-345

P/T charts are on the net....

If you have additional factual information here please post for this series hmmwv. Not red dot stuff...

Here is a wiring schematic for this series truck. This is only a supplemental diagram and in no way should be used as a replacement to the Technical Manuals for the HMMWV.

I thought I would dredge this up from the board so that hmmwv ac installers would know it exists. I have done a few of these and this is very helpful.

These new systems are very good. I rarely put mine on HIGH in the SW FL summer. Glad I have it! :D

The updated fan switch nameplate for this AC setup is:
NSN 9905-01-583-7286 / 12480917 TACOM

It is not correctly listed in the TM parts breakdown drawings (change 02 revision of TM ...387-24P, Jan. 2006).

Ted / Jason / gurus, I'm trying to gather a couple details regarding wiring harness for the setup for the purposes of cloning the harness. See following questions, any help is much appreciated.

1) For the harness to the rear A/C evap unit there is a 4 pin Deutsch connector (DTP connector) along the tunnel. Can someone ring this out in relation to your schematic with a DVM? i.e. this connector would pass along 416D, 436E, 7L, 720A and I want to know which one is pin1 through pin4 at the DTP connectors.

2) Similarly what are the connections at the cannon connector pins? I can figure this out later, but would be nice to have here too.

3) What is the exact length from the end of the cannon connector to the end of the Deutsch connector?

4) Could someone confirm the part # off the Cannon connector on the harness? I'd figure this out from my rear A/C unit, but I'm a couple states away from my parts for a while. From pics it looks like a bayonet style mil 5105 series, 8-pin, 22-23S shell layout? i.e. Cannon CIR or ca3106?

The rest looks relatively simple. The tricky details are all in the rear harness.

Thanks,
Nate

Look up :
ITT Cannon CA-B / CB series bayonet connectors.
Plug has ink stamp : ITTC 0646 ccu230 which has nothing to do with part number.
P.N. CB6E22-23S _S_ ......Is close to what it is.

Excellent thank you Greg. I have ca3106e22-23sb jotted down as my connector of choice. I believe it should be the right match based on your info.

Could you measure out the length of that same harness?

I tried to measure it installed with seat in the way, it seemed to be about 43". Measured twice!

Ted, thanks for double-checking that. Just got my connector in. Ended up with a surplus CIR06AF-22-23S as an alternate. Might pick your guys brains about harness routing in a few spots. Most of it I can figure out from your build pics.
