3 piece rev rail rolling chassis weight difference

Post by ohiohmmwv » Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:21 pm

Anyone know the weight difference the three piece rails add to the typical chassis? Rev vs early rolling chassis for example?

For late 12k vs REV, I never weighed them but I'd guess 25% heavier per rail. Also they are 5/8" hardware, not 1/2" so that adds up.

Thanks Ted. Back a few years ago when my frame rails were completely stripped down they were super heavy just to lift one end. Got me wondering if the other regular frame rails even come close.

Speaking of frames, does anyone have pics of a "REV 3 piece frame" and how they are different, especially why they are called the "3 piece frame"?

I’ll try to remember to take a pic for you tonight. They’re basically 3 pieces of frame tube welded together. Just imagine if the frame rail was in three almost even pieces, with overlapping joints, welders together. They’re quite heavy duty.

The middle section slides into the fronts and rears. I had pulled some apart that had bent middles.
