Camp Plymouth FALL Swap Meet and Show Sept. 7 thru 11, 2021

Post by John Neuenburg » Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:35 am

The Camp Plymouth FALL swap meet and MV show is scheduled for September 7, 2021 through Saturday the 11th. It is promoted by the Military Vehicle Collectors of California. Location is 49er Village RV Resort, 18265 Hwy 49, Plymouth, CA 95669, and Amador County Fairgrounds for the tent campground, parking lot, and trailer storage at 18343 Empire Street just to the north of the 49er entrance.

Sunday is a pull out day, not a good show day although there are bargains to be had before merchandise is loaded into the trucks! This meet is earlier than normal due to conflicts at either or both venues later in September and early October.

As of this writing there is no general event information published on www.MVCCNews.net in the calendar section but it is the same type of event as the April meet which by the way was VERY SUCCESSFUL! There is still April general info available on that website if you aren't familiar with these swap meet/rallies.

As usual there is no admission fee. Visitors are welcome with free parking at the fairgrounds. Those commuting from hotel or home in a MV will receive a display parking spot inside our show. There are no vendor fees but all vendors must rent a campsite. Anyone can bring items to sell. No word yet if the path between fairgrounds and RV Village will be open. In April they had a solar construction project near there. If that is still closed you will probably want your MV for driving back and forth via the main gates rather than walk. But there is very little parking at the 49er so pre-arrange temporary parking at a buddies RV site if you need a spot. Do not park on the streets or in an empty site because it won't be empty for long!

There is a MV excursion planned so you might want to get your MV tuned up and registration up to date. The MVCC as promoter now requires all MVs at the meet to be insured for liability.

Just announced: MV Excursion to Black Chasm Cavern in Volcano! Great drive of about 20 miles and 1,000 feet higher. Admission is a discounted military rate of $15 per adult (over 12) and $8 for children 5-12 years old. Under 5 = free. Lots of stairs and bring a jacket.

The women are planning an offsite lunch trip TBA.

The camping reservation form is on the website showing the discounted RV and cabin rates at the 49er but as of August these may be expired. Contact them directly at 209-245-6981 or look for a site at https://www.campspot.com/book/49er-village. You are not confined to being in our event block of sites. Use our form for the tent/truck campsites at the adjacent fairgrounds. For the fairgrounds sites, pay the MVCC in full. No minimum stay for dry tent sites.

There are hotels, B&Bs, and restaurants just down the street plus a nice grocery store with deli. Auto parts store is close. For those interested in wine and wineries, Amador County has 41 wineries and many are just up the hill from Plymouth. Old West and Gold Country tourism is another reason why people like the old towns along Hwy 49.

Personally I'd like to see a block party somewhere. BYOB. Stay tuned here. If I hear of anything I will post it, even during the event. What a concept! Or go to the MVCC event booth which I believe is open only Thursday and Friday.

If anyone wants to organize anything, speak up!

The Amador County fairgrounds has been designated as a fire evacuees refuge and so our people with reservations in the fairgrounds have been moved over to the Carnival Hill area which is on the north end of the fairgrounds. There is plenty of space for us and trailer parking and there will be signs to help you get there. Do not enter the fairgrounds by the old entryway but continue straight on Empire Street, turn left on Locust and then right onto Sherwood and you will see the gate into the new area.

As of Saturday 9/4 the weather is expected to be clear and warm with moderate smoke from the fires. The fires are currently moving eastwards away from Plymouth.
