NOTE from MVCC President - April Camp Plymouth

Post by Chris T. » Sun Mar 15, 2020 10:24 am

Just a quick note to everyone:

We tried everything to save the meet. When the powers than be say No, then No it is. I feel really bad for all our friends who travel from the four corners of Earth to come. We WILL have great Fall Meet, September 15-19! I'm drafting a letter to the MVCC membership today, but I'm stuck on what to say. With all this crazy stuff going on, the meet is one of the things we needed to take our minds off this thing.

I do want to thank the MVCC Board, we're all working to get things shutdown and let everyone know what is happening.

As for myself, after the membership letter, I'm going out to the garage and do some wrench turning on one of my CCKW.

Thank you for the update Chris. I think we all understand. We'll set our sights on the Fall event.

If it was just an outdoor social meet it would be less of a problem, assuming we had a choice which we don't. But a swap meet doesn't lend itself to social distancing. You'll never see people stand 6 feet apart when the tailgate comes down and the parts start coming out.

Just plan for September. The virus is supposed to go away well before that. If the economy takes a big dump there might be more stuff for sale. That's both good and sad.

It's on! More information will follow. The 49'er has given us a block of sites so the powers that be (the county) are saying group gatherings by September are OK. Some changes will be hand washing stations and "other requirements per the county heath department"

But yes, it's on and the info will be in the club newsletter and posted here.

Stay Safe and Stay Tuned.

The price of old GI gas masks will be high. Same thing happened at the Big Bear meet in Waterford when the cottonwood trees were blooming. Looked like snow.

Seriously folks, this will be four months from now. Who knows what the virus situation will be, but it looks like a decline is happening. It's an outdoor event with lots of room for personal distancing if we even care about that in September. If you are commuting from hotel or home there will be options for meals inside or outside the campgrounds that don't involve crowds. Like take-out from the market down the street or delivery from restaurants.
