Michigan S.B. 1040 registration of Surplus Military Vehicles

Post by Lazboytt » Tue Jun 05, 2018 7:44 am

Hello,
Looking for support from people to send e mail in support of the Michigan Legislation S.B. 1040 to allow for registration of Surplus Military vehicles. . You can click the link on the SEMA site to contact law makers. It will open up your e mail and have all the e mail addresses in place.
They give bullet points on SEMA's site that you can add to the e mail or just send e mail stating that you are in full support of the bill.
Doesn't matter if you are not in Michigan. Once we get the Motor City Capital of the world on board perhaps other states will follow.
Any help would be appreciated

So if passed, you cannot use your vehicle for your work, or advertising, etc. Old Army Deuce's / 5T's sold off for work trucks (Memphis Equipment for example) would be prohibited (as they are now virtually antique status with to-from an event, etc. under that law)

So how does this "improve" things? If you bought a HUMVEE, it would only be intended for use in parades, shows, etc. by this law. No Armor or Halftracks, relegates them to trailer queens, even though a Halftrack does less damage than a car, or a woman in high heel shoes weight wise to asphalt. (Calculate the weight per inch if interested, a 1/2" heel when she steps is 300+Lbs per square inch)

Then there's the "meets EPA standards and safety standards", which could mean a lot of different things for a commercial vehicle VS former Govt. exempt vehicle. Would your 1944 jeep now have to have rear license plate light, backup light and seatbelts?

Change may be needed, but it this going off the deep end for titling FMV's (former Military Vehicles)? We've already lost in Virginia due to this passing here, you sure you want this Nation Wide?

I can’t even get the clubs to support a bill to end Californias hmmwv titling ban, let alone support some other state, I’ve had to go it alone, and suffice to say, it’s bleak, DMV continues to cite emissions and FMVSS.

Hello,
We here in Michigan are working on a few new bills one for a Historic Military plate and a 2nd bill for titling as you see fit, Full on road use or historic, its your choice on how you would like to register your surplus military vehicle. The license plate bill had its blue back ordered. They are still working on the titling bill.

Please help by signing our petition on change. org at the following link. This is sent to all Senators here in Michigan and also the Secretary of state and the Governor’s office.
Your support is appreciated
